Sustainability is more than just a buzzword for us – it has become a central part of how we work and think.
The vehicle fleet of Donauraum Wien has been fully converted to electric power. The two vehicles used for mooring operations around the Vienna Shipping Center at Reichsbrücke, as well as the flatbed vehicle required for operating Marina Wien, are now fully electric.
Subtle yet distinctive company branding ensures that everyone in the port immediately recognises: this is Donauraum Wien. This expands our ability to operate emission-free and with greater resource efficiency. By expanding our green vehicle fleet, we are setting a clearly visible sign for an environmentally friendly future and demonstrating that responsible action and modern mobility can go hand in hand.
However, sustainable thinking does not stop with the vehicle fleet. Another milestone in our sustainability initiative is the installation of shore power facilities for river cruise vessels from 2026 onwards. This enables ships to use environmentally friendly electricity during their berthing times instead of running diesel generators. This reduces emissions, improves air quality and contributes to quieter, more pleasant port operations.
With these measures, we make one thing clear: sustainability is not a short-term trend for us, but a long-term responsibility. Whether on the road or on the water, we consistently invest in technologies that protect the environment and conserve resources. Donauraum Wien thus remains not only a place of encounter, but also a pioneer of sustainable mobility.
